A Halloween Treat

In case you didn’t know it is October, which means falling Autumn leaves, cold dark nights, cosy cuddles by a fire and of course Halloween.

Now, this blog isn’t quite about posting recipes and all manner of scary decorations, but I thought I could make an exception today and post a few ideas for a Halloween tea party.

So, let’s begin!

For me, a tea party consists of a delicious drink (usually tea, but it can also be champagne if you’re offering darling). Sandwiches followed by scones with jam and cream (clotted of course) and a selection of sweet treats.

Let’s start with the punch.

I have always love punch, it reminds me of old American High School films and the awful dances that they had there with the main aim of spiking the punch with a shot of alcohol or two. Having a luminous bowl of liquid that you pour out using a ladle probably isn’t the best idea with loads of kids around, but for one day, maybe we could make an exception (and grab a few tea towels just in case)

This bowl of punch is really simple and consists of only a few ingredients. The real magic is in the decoration that kids will love!

Onto the Sandwich

For a party, especially one for Halloween, sandwiches (or should I say sand-witches) can be seen as a little bit boring. However, this centre piece certainly isn’t and with it full of pizza favourites it’ll be a hit with everyone

A Halloween scone recipe – It’s quite difficult to find a good one to be honest. I guess it’s not really an Autumn food, but with the addition of pumpkin, apples, warm spices like cinnamon and nutmeg you can make a delicious treat. I looked for a toffee apple inspired recipe and found these and I certainly wouldn’t turn one down!

And now onto my favourite bit. When all the compulsory stages are out of the way, enjoyed, devoured even, you can nibble your way through more delicious treats! This would be the bit where you can really let your imagination go wild. maybe you will create some Halloween cookies or a full blown Halloween cobweb cake, it’s up to you and how much time you have, but here are a few more ideas for you to consider.
